Emily Anim for Vice President

Emily Anim for Vice President

Emily Anim is a proud Liberian woman, devoted mother, loving grandmother, healthcare professional, and a trusted pillar of the Liberian community in Charlotte. Born in Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount County, Liberia, and raised in Bong Mines, she graduated from Konola Academy before migrating to the United States in 1994 during the Liberian Civil War in search of safety, opportunity, and a better future for her family.

Since making Charlotte her home, she has remained deeply committed to serving, uplifting, and connecting the Liberian community. Driven by a lifelong passion for helping others, Emily also pursued college coursework in nursing and social work, strengthening her commitment to care, advocacy, and service. For nearly 25 years, she has faithfully served patients in Charlotte through her work in healthcare. Her compassion, dedication, and caring spirit have touched countless lives. She believes that caring for people goes beyond the workplace. For her, it is a calling rooted in empathy, dignity, and human connection.

Emily is widely known for her warm personality, her ability to unite people, and her steady presence in the community during both joyful and difficult times. She actively participates in community affairs, spends meaningful time with elders, and is often among the first to support grieving families, helping organize comfort and assistance when it is needed most. Her commitment to bringing people together extends beyond the Liberian community. While employed at Novant Health Presbyterian Hospital, she created “International Day,” a celebration of diversity that united people from many cultures through food, music, and entertainment. The event became a meaningful tradition that continues to be recognized and celebrated today. Never forgetting where she came from, Emily has always believed in giving back to Liberia and investing in the next generation.

On May 26, 2025, she launched the Carolyn Stryker Soup Kitchen at Solcum Mission School in Bong County, Liberia, in honor of her late mother. The initiative was created to provide healthy meals to underprivileged students so they can be nourished and better able to focus on their education. This work reflects her lifelong belief that compassion, unity, and service can create lasting change both in Liberia and within the diaspora. As Team TUSI’s candidate for Vice President, Emily Anim brings a people-centered spirit, strong community trust, and a deep commitment to unity, cultural pride, and meaningful engagement. She believes strong communities are built through inclusion, compassion, and collective support, and she is ready to help lead LIBAC with purpose, service, and heart.
