Cyrus Teah's 55th Birthday - an evening of Celebration, Reflection, and Community

Team TUSI proudly joined family, friends, and well-wishers in celebrating a major milestone as Cyrus Teah marked his 55th Birthday in grand style. The evening was filled with laughter, heartfelt stories, appreciation, and memorable moments as guests gathered to honor a man whose journey has inspired many.

During the celebration, Mr. Teah reflected on his upbringing in West Point, Liberia, sharing the challenges he faced growing up in a difficult environment. He expressed deep gratitude to his brother and sister, whom he credited with protecting and supporting him throughout his younger years. In a lighthearted moment, he recalled the many times he found himself in trouble and how his older sister was always there to defend him, bringing laughter and smiles throughout the room.

Among the evening’s most touching moments was a heartfelt tribute from his daughter, who showered her father with praise and appreciation. She then playfully promised him a grandchild in the near future, sending the crowd into laughter and applause. Equally moving were the remarks from his niece, who spoke about the profound impact her uncle had on her and her siblings. She shared that he was the uncle they always looked forward to seeing because of his generosity, kindness, and unwavering presence. Whenever he was around, they felt loved, valued, and supported.
 

As the floor opened for tributes, many guests shared stories highlighting Mr.  Teah’s character, generosity, and positive influence within the community. He also took time to recognize his close friend, Vickey, for being a constant source of encouragement and motivation, inspiring him to become more engaged and active within the Liberian community in Charlotte.

Mr. Teah reaffirmed his support for Team TUSI, emphasizing the importance of building a stronger and more united Liberian community. Representing Team TUSI, William Z. Russ II addressed the audience and shared the vision behind the movement. He encouraged community members to support Team TUSI and embrace its core values of Tone, Unity, Service, and Impact, underscoring the team’s commitment to positive leadership, inclusion, and meaningful progress.

 

The celebration was more than a birthday party—it was a powerful reminder of the importance of family, friendship, gratitude, and community. As guests departed, they carried with them not only fond memories of the evening but also a renewed appreciation for the relationships and values that bring people together.
